Sparrow vs DoNotPay

Both help you get money back from companies. DoNotPay is a wide toolbox of more than 100 consumer tools. Sparrow does fewer things and focuses on money you are owed: class action settlements, unclaimed property, lower bills and late delivery refunds.

The short version: If you want one subscription that covers a long list of chores, such as burner phone numbers, free trial cards, parking ticket appeals, spam and robocall claims, DMV appointments and FOIA requests, DoNotPay covers far more ground than Sparrow. If you want class action settlement claims filed for you, bill negotiation calls with no success fee and a money-back guarantee, Sparrow is built for that.

Where each one is stronger

DoNotPay is a good product. Here is what it does better, and what Sparrow does that it does not.

Where DoNotPay wins

  • Breadth: DoNotPay lists more than 100 tools, including burner phone numbers, parking ticket appeals, flight compensation, warranty claims and government paperwork. Sparrow does none of these.
  • Medical bills: DoNotPay says it negotiates medical bills. Sparrow calls only internet, phone and utility providers.
  • Complaint letters: it writes and mails complaint letters to companies for you, and helps appeal bank fees.
  • A long track record on the App Store, with a 4.3-star rating from about 7,600 ratings.

Where Sparrow wins

  • Class action settlements: Sparrow matches you to settlements you qualify for and files the claims. DoNotPay has no settlement-claims tool.
  • Unclaimed property search across all 50 states for free, with the claim made on the state site, which costs nothing.
  • Late delivery refunds start on their own: Sparrow reads delay notices in your inbox and calls the retailer, so you do not have to notice the delay first.
  • Clear pricing and a money-back guarantee: if you do not earn more than you paid, Sparrow refunds the difference.

What they cost

DoNotPay

DoNotPay does not publish a price on its website. Its App Store listing shows one in-app purchase, "DoNotPay Subscription", at $35.99, and does not say how often it renews. Check the amount and billing period at checkout before you subscribe.

Sparrow

One membership at $3 to $7 a month, billed annually, priced by what your claims are worth. It covers class action claims, unclaimed money search, bill negotiation calls, subscription cancellation calls and late delivery refunds. If you do not earn more than you paid, Sparrow refunds the difference.

Sparrow vs DoNotPay questions

What DoNotPay and Sparrow each do, and what they cost.

No. DoNotPay now calls itself an AI Consumer Champion. In a final order the FTC approved on January 16, 2025, DoNotPay agreed to pay $193,000, to notify people who subscribed between 2021 and 2023, and not to claim its service performs like a real lawyer without evidence to back it up. The FTC had alleged the company did not test whether its "AI lawyer" operated at the level of a human lawyer.

DoNotPay has no tool that finds settlements you qualify for and files the claims. Its spam features say they notify you when a sender faces a class action you can join. Matching you to settlements and filing the claims is the core of what Sparrow does.

Its website does not list a price. The App Store shows a "DoNotPay Subscription" in-app purchase at $35.99 without stating the billing period. Sparrow costs $3 to $7 a month, billed annually.

No. Every state lets you search and claim unclaimed property on its own website for free. Sparrow searches all 50 states for you at no charge and points you to the state site to claim. DoNotPay says it will claim the property on your behalf.

For bill negotiation, subscription cancellation, late delivery refunds and unclaimed money, yes. For DoNotPay tools like burner numbers, ticket appeals or FOIA requests, no: Sparrow does not offer them.
