Sparrow vs Rocket Money

They overlap on cancelling subscriptions and lowering bills, and then go in different directions. Rocket Money is built to manage your budget. Sparrow is built to collect money you are owed.

The short version: If you want budgets, net worth, credit reports and an Android app, Rocket Money is the stronger product and this page will not pretend otherwise. If you want class action settlement payouts, unclaimed property, and calls to lower bills without a $15 plan, Sparrow does things Rocket Money does not do at all.

Where each one is stronger

Rocket Money is a good product. Here is what it does better, and what Sparrow does that it does not.

Where Rocket Money wins

  • Budgeting: category budgets, net worth, credit reports and automatic savings. Sparrow has none of these.
  • Android. Sparrow has no Android app.
  • Scale: Rocket Money reports 10 million+ members and a 4.5-star iPhone rating from over 400,000 ratings.
  • Phone support and a high-yield savings account on Premium+.

Where Sparrow wins

  • Class action settlements: Sparrow finds the ones you qualify for and files the claims. Rocket Money does not touch settlements.
  • Unclaimed property held by your state, which Rocket Money does not search.
  • Bill negotiation is included in a $3–$7/month membership. Rocket Money moved it to its $15/month Premium+ plan on November 2, 2026.
  • Late delivery refunds: Sparrow calls the retailer when an order arrives behind schedule.

What they cost

Rocket Money

Free tier for viewing subscriptions and spending. Premium is pay-what-you-think-is-fair, which Rocket Money says is typically $7 to $14 a month (prices vary by platform), with a 7-day trial; it adds cancellation by their team, unlimited budgets, net worth and credit reports. Premium+ is $15 a month plus tax and is now the only plan with bill negotiation, with no success fee.

Sparrow

One membership at $3 to $7 a month, billed annually, priced by what your claims are worth. It covers class action claims, unclaimed money search, bill negotiation calls, subscription cancellation calls and late delivery refunds. If you do not earn more than you paid, Sparrow refunds the difference.

Which one should you pick?

Pick Rocket Money if

  • You want one app to budget, track net worth and watch your credit.
  • You use Android.
  • You mostly want subscriptions cancelled and do not care about settlements or unclaimed money.

Pick Sparrow if

  • You want money you are already owed: settlement payouts, unclaimed property, refunds.
  • You want bills lowered without paying for a $15/month plan.
  • You already budget somewhere else, or not at all.
