What this settlement covers

You used a Skin360 skin assessment, including Neutrogena Skin360 or NeoStrata Skin360, while you were in Illinois between December 9, 2019 and May 5, 2023.

The class covers people who, while in Illinois, performed a Skin360 skin assessment using any version of Skin360, including Neutrogena Skin360, NeoStrata Skin360, and Skin360 collaborations with other companies, on the mobile app or the website, between December 9, 2019 and May 5, 2023. The case is Melzer, et al. v. Johnson & Johnson Consumer Inc., No. 3:22-cv-03149, in the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey. It alleges a violation of the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act. Johnson & Johnson Consumer Inc. denies the allegations.

What you can claim

  • An equal cash payment from a $4.7 million fund for each person who files a valid claim.
  • No proof of the Skin360 assessment is required to file.

How payment works

The $4.7 million fund pays administration costs, attorneys' fees, and service awards first, and what remains is split in equal shares across valid claims. A pro rata share means the amount rises or falls with how many people file, so the figure on the card is an estimate, not a guarantee. Nothing is paid until the court grants final approval.

Neutrogena Skin360 Class Action Settlement FAQs

Common questions about this class action settlement.

Who can file?

Anyone who, while in Illinois, used a Skin360 skin assessment between December 9, 2019 and May 5, 2023. That includes Neutrogena Skin360, NeoStrata Skin360, and Skin360 collaborations, on the app or the website. You do not have to live in Illinois now.

Do I need documents?

No. The claim asks for your dates of use and does not require a receipt or screenshot to file. The administrator may later ask for something that shows you were in Illinois, such as an ID or a utility bill. Sparrow does not attach those documents. The box for including documentation is left blank.

I have moved out of Illinois.

You can still file if you were in Illinois when you used Skin360 during the class period. The form then asks for the dates you were in Illinois while using it, between December 9, 2019 and May 5, 2023.

How much is the payment?

Each valid claim gets the same share of the $4.7 million fund after fees, service awards, and administration costs. The amount is not fixed. Plaintiffs told the court that about $769 per claimant is the estimate if roughly 35% of the class files and the requested fees are approved, and that the gross share is about $427 if everyone files, before those deductions.

When is the deadline?

Claims must be submitted online at skin360bipasettlement.com or postmarked by November 25, 2026. The administrator can be reached at 1-888-706-4337 or info@skin360bipasettlement.com. Mail goes to Skin360 BIPA Settlement Administrator, P.O. Box 3116, Baton Rouge, LA 70821.
